EMERGENCY DENTIST IN OVIEDO, FL

Dental emergencies can be alarming when they occur. If untreated, they may also pose a risk to your health. You should never ignore a serious dental problem. If you are in great pain, your condition is probably urgent. It is always better to err on the side of caution.
If you sustain an injury to the teeth or the gums, you might require medical attention. Such injuries can be potentially harmful. Neglecting a dental problem may increase the chance of permanent damage. This could result in costly and extensive treatment later.

IF A DENTAL ISSUE OCCURS OUTSIDE OF NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS, CALL US. WE WILL TRY TO GET YOU IMMEDIATE ATTENTION FOR YOUR PROBLEM.

WHAT TO DO IMMEDIATELY FOR DENTAL EMERGENCIES

When an emergency arises, you can take some steps to manage the situation. You might still need to see your dentist, but you can take some preventative action. Acting quickly could help you to save a tooth. Quick action could also enable you to prevent other kinds of additional damage.

LOST TOOTH

You might lose a tooth that is decaying. You could also get a tooth knocked out at a baseball game. Losing a tooth as an adult is not a normal event. You should consider this an emergency.
Once you locate it, hold the tooth and carefully rinse it. You can keep the tooth in some milk until you see an emergency dentist. The sooner you can see your dentist for a lost tooth, the better.

TOOTH PARTIALLY OUT

Your tooth can become dislodged without falling out entirely. This is also a cause for concern, and you should see a dentist. To alleviate the pain, you can hold a cold compress against the affected area. If you need to, take an over-the-counter (OTC) pain medication.

LOST FILLING OR CROWN

If you lose a filling your tooth will likely be sensitive to certain foods. You can buy dental cement to insert in the cavity temporarily.
Losing a crown could also cause sensitivity. Be sure to find the crown and keep it in a safe place. Crowns are not inexpensive. You will want to bring yours to the dentist if possible.

CRACKED OR CHIPPED TOOTH

A chipped or cracked tooth can be quite painful. If you can find part of your damaged tooth, you should save it. Bring it with you to the dentist. Apply gauze with slight pressure to a bleeding area.

TOOTHACHE

A toothache indicates a problem, so it must be addressed. Rinse your mouth with warm water first. The problem might simply be food stuck in your teeth. If that does not relieve the pain, contact your dentist.
