PAIN FREE DENTISTRY OVIEDO FL
At Innovative Dental and Orthodontics, we want you to feel comfortable with your experience here. We provide nitrous oxide sedation, which ensures patients can relax during their appointments.
This type of dentistry is the most common one used to diminish patient fears. The practice is easy to implement, and it does not require needles. In many cases, the experience is so comfortable, patients do not even remember the treatment. They feel as though they were asleep during their visit.
THE PRIMARY BENEFITS OF SEDATION DENTISTRY
This is how very complex dental treatments can be reduced in length. A smile makeover or complicated restoration treatment might require several visits. With sedation dentistry, fewer appointments may be needed.
Sedation dentistry could also prompt a fearful patient to go to appointments. Someone who normally postpones or cancels visits will likely suffer from poor oral health. By choosing to be sedated, that person can get necessary care for optimal health
CANDIDATE FOR SEDATION DENTISTRY:
High levels of fear.
Have had traumatic dental experiences.
Bad gag reflex.
Very sensitive teeth.
Complex dental problems.
Hate needles and shots.
Afraid and embarrassed about their teeth.
NITROUS OXIDE SEDATION-LAUGHING GAS
is an entirely safe form of sedation. It not an irritant, and it is non-allergenic. Nitrous oxide is a gas. It has the capacity to minimize saliva flow and the gag reflex. During sedation dentistry treatment, patients will feel completely relaxed.
The gas also tends to reduce gag reflexes and saliva flow. Patients will feel totally relaxed during their treatment when sedated with nitrous oxide.
THE NITROUS OXIDE SEDATION PROCEDURE
First, a small mask is positioned over the patient’s nose. It is adjusted to make the patient feel comfortable. At this is happening, the patient is breathing 100 percent oxygen.
Gradually, the dentist applies the nitrous oxide. When the patient is thoroughly relaxed, the procedure begins.
When the sedation dentistry treatment is complete, the patient receives 100 percent oxygen again. This takes at least three to five minutes. When this stage is done, the patient should feel totally normal.
