Traci Invisalign Patient in Oviedo, FL

Meet Traci

"Traci came to our office for a consult, wanting to improve her smile. We also identified that she was also having difficulty flossing, which led to reduced oral hygiene. After 9 short months, she said she was “smiling more confidently” and with improved routine cleaning."

What are clear aligners?

You’ve dreamt of a beautiful smile for as long as you can remember. It’s not too late! From teens to seniors, that beautiful smile is just a dental procedure away. Clear-aligners are a viable alternative to conventional braces. They are custom made to fit your smile and fit snugly and discreetly over your teeth. Clear-aligners help you achieve a straighter smile in half the time that traditional braces take, and office time is minimal. Clear-Aligners are more comfortable and easier to wear than metal braces and can be easily removed when necessary.

How Do Clear Aligners Work?

Clear aligners work through a series of custom-made trays that gradually move your teeth into alignment. Here's how the process typically works:

Initial Consultation

Once you’ve chosen the Clear Aligners process, the initial step consists of a consultation with an orthodontist. We follow up on the consultation with a 3D digital scan of your teeth and a discussion regarding the treatment plan that the orthodontist will put in place. The orthodontist will discuss how each tooth that needs to be moved will be handled. This discussion will be a detailed account of how each tooth will need to be moved and how long the whole process will take. The doctor will even give you a preview of what your teeth will look like once the plan is complete.

Customized Treatment Plan

Based on your assessment, a series of clear aligner trays will be custom-made for you. A set of aligners is worn for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. Each tray is designed to slightly shift your teeth until they reach the desired position.

Wearing Your Aligners

You will wear each set of aligners for about 22 hours a day, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move—little by little, week by week—until they have straightened to the final position the orthodontist has prescribed.

Progression

Every few weeks, you will switch to a new set of aligners to continue the progression of your treatment. You will visit us approximately once every 6 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned.

Regular Check-ups

Throughout your treatment, you will have periodic check-ups with our orthodontic team to monitor your progress and ensure everything is progressing as planned. These check-ups are crucial for ensuring your treatment stays on track and adjustments are made if necessary.

Completion

Once you have completed your treatment plan, which typically averages around 11 months, you will transition to wearing retainers to maintain your newly aligned smile. The total number of aligners worn during treatment averages between 18 and 30, although this can vary depending on your specific case. This transition marks the completion of your journey to a straighter, healthier smile.
